Our annual Parent - Teacher Meetings will be held in the school between Monday 5th – Friday 9th of February. A time will be arranged for you to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress to date. If the time suggested does not suit or you are unable to make it please let your child’s teacher know who will work with you to find a suitable time to discuss your child.
Hopefully you all enjoyed Christmas and like us way over did it with the food and drink! Not to worry we can help with those extra holiday pounds. Operation Transformation will be back on our screens in January and to kick off the New Year we will be running our own Operation Transformation here in the school during January and February. We will be running a range of events including walking groups, healthy eating demonstrations and tastings, fitness classes and mindfulness workshops and classes (featuring the relaxing tones of Paddy Mullen). So if you want to shed those holiday pounds or are just looking for something different why not sign up and join our parent’s fitness group. See Paddy Kinsella for more information. Keep an eye out for upcoming classes list.

After the success and fun had last year we are running another Christmas Wreath Making Class for parents on Friday 8th December in the schools from 9:30am. We are running another Parent Plus Early Years Course this year for parents of children from 1 – 8 years of age. This will be our third year to run the course and it proved to be a great hit the last 2 years. It is run all over Ireland and results of parent feedback has been extremely positive.
The Parents Plus Early Years Programme is ideal for parents who want to maximise their children’s learning, language and social development, as well as reduce behaviour problems, stresses or difficulties using practical and positive steps. The programme is suitable both for children within the normal range of development as well as children with special needs such as ADHD, speech and language and other development difficulties.
The Parents Plus programme runs for 6 weeks from 9:15 – 11am.
We are running STEM for Fun again this year and are hoping to include all classes. We have started with Junior and Senior Infants and this will run up until Halloween. STEM for Fun involves children engaging in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities in a fun way from playing Giant Jenga to Lego Construction Challenges to Maths activities on our tablets. The children love it but we do need the help of parents to run it.
If you have 90minutes free on a Wednesday morning and would like to help please talk to Paddy Kinsella. Below is the timetable for this year’s STEM for Fun. Why not volunteer for a couple of weeks when your child’s class are taking part?
Junior Infants and Senior Infants September – October (5 weeks)
1st and 2nd Class November – December (5 weeks)
3rd and 4th Class January – February (5 weeks)
5th and 6th Class March – April (5 weeks)
This is the second year the Parent Association will be running a Halloween Party in the school for the children. Last year was a huge success, so much so that students have been asking about this year’s party almost daily since we returned in August. The party will take place on Friday 27th in our spooktacularly decorated hall with accompanying D.J. Like every year children are encouraged to dress and there may even be a prize for best homemade costumes.
We have another Parent Breakfast Morning coming up this Thursday 26th October at 9am. Why not come in, enjoy a free fry up and a chance to chat with other parents. Don’t like rashers, sausages, pudding? Don’t worry. We have eggs, hash browns, beans, toast, tomatoes and more for the vegetarians too.
St. Peter’s Enrolment for day for Junior Infants wishing to enrol for September 2018 takes place on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th from 9am – 2:30pm. Enrolment forms are available from Karen in the office but completed forms cannot be accepted before the enrolment days. For more information or for enrolment criteria contact Karen in the office.
